TL;DR

Structural Engineer (Renewable Structural): Leading structural design of renewable generation and utility substation facilities while managing project scope, schedule, and budget with an accent on QA/QC of design packages and clear client communication. Focus on detailed structural analysis and calculations for steel, concrete, and foundations, plus mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Location: Fully Remote or Lakewood, Colorado

Salary: $100,000.00–$135,000.00 per year

What you will do

  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, coordination, and client communication for substation projects.
  • Manage internal scope of work, track progress, identify risks, and report status against scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Produce and perform initial QA/QC review of structural design packages (steel structures, MPT foundations, concrete slabs, drilled piers).
  • Perform detailed structural design and calculations/modeling for utility, industrial, and commercial substations.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and supporting documentation (estimates, proposals, studies, budget reports).
  • Conduct field inspection and construction supervision; review designers/drafters/field work for quality and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural Engineering (electric power option preferred).
  • 0–2 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Strong structural analysis and design knowledge for steel, concrete, and foundation design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with structural analysis tools is a plus (SAP2000, L-Pile, MathCad, PLS-CADD).
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to internal stakeholders and clients.

Nice to have

  • FE/PE licensure.
  • Strong understanding of ASCE 7 and applicable building/civil codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ANSI, ASTM, IEC, IEEE).
  • Proficiency (or ability to obtain within 6 months) with SAP2000, STAAD, Revit, Risa3D, L-Pile, or other structural analysis software.
