TL;DR

Azure Cloud Engineer (Azure/Terraform): Design, deploy, and manage secure Azure cloud infrastructure for federal IT environments with an accent on compliance-aligned security controls, Azure networking, and operational monitoring. Focus on building and troubleshooting Terraform-based IaC, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) performance for production users.

Location: Hybrid (On-site 4 days/week in Washington, D.C. 20006; 1 day telework)

Salary: $130,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure (VMs, VNets, Storage, Azure AD, and PaaS services).
• Manage and optimize Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, VPN/ExpressRoute connectivity).
• Build and maintain Terraform templates as the primary Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach.
• Support automation and CI/CD using PowerShell, Bash, YAML/JSON, and GitLab pipelines.
• Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including host pools and FSLogix.
• Implement secure cloud practices and ensure compliance with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, and agency-specific controls using Azure monitoring and logging.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
• Active Secret (or higher) clearance.
• 3+ years of Azure Cloud Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and 3+ years using Terraform for IaC.
• 3+ years using GitLab; 4+ years of PowerShell scripting.
• Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC four days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD or federal agency cloud environments.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes (AKS).
• Azure serverless tools (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid).
• Cost optimization using Azure Cost Management / FinOps practices.
