What you will do

• Run the SCIP toolchain end-to-end and deliver fixes/improvements across SCIP indexer and protocol repositories.
• Own SCIP governance and community direction: triage/prioritization norms, contribution guidelines, and roadmap communication.
• Set technical direction for the protocol and its indexers, making decisions requiring real compiler fluency (language-feature support, AST-modifying tools, symbol-resolution correctness).
• Review and mentor open-source contributors and raise the quality bar across the multi-party ecosystem.
• Drive alignment with partner organizations running SCIP indexers in production and influence hirify.global’s product direction for code intelligence.
• Participate in on-call support rotation for the SCIP ecosystem.

Requirements

• Senior to staff-level compiler and programming language fluency; comfortable working inside compiler/language toolchains and code indexing systems.
• Experience making high-stakes technical decisions under ambiguity and operating at staff scope with broad direction.
• Proven open-source leadership: growing a project/standard into a multi-party community with governance, roadmap, triage, reviews, and contributor mentoring.
• Ability to work with EST overlap for at least 20 hours/week.
• Comfort communicating and representing the project publicly (issues, RFCs, design discussions, partner/executive conversations).

Nice to have

• Experience creating or leading developer tools/standards consumed across many organizations (indexers, language servers, build tools, protocols).
• Familiarity with code-intelligence formats and tooling such as SCIP, LSIF, LSP, tree-sitter, rust-analyzer.
• Experience partnering with large engineering organizations as co-maintainers or standard-setters.
• Willingness to learn Go (backend language).
