Senior iOS Software Engineer (Video Streaming)

Location: Fully remote from a non-hirify.global worksite, with approximately 10% intentional in-person collaboration; listed location: Orlando, FL, United States.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain an iOS Video Player SDK using Swift and Apple media frameworks.
• Lead and contribute to scalable architecture for cross-platform video playback solutions.
• Implement and optimize HLS playback, buffering, FairPlay DRM, and offline capabilities.
• Diagnose playback issues across the video delivery pipeline and improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and operations teams to deliver high-quality releases.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, and documentation.

Requirements

• Strong iOS development experience with deep proficiency in Swift and Apple frameworks, including AVFoundation and AVPlayer.
• Hands-on expertise with HLS streaming, FairPlay DRM, and video playback optimization.
• Understanding of streaming protocols, playback performance, buffering, and bitrate adaptation.
• Experience building scalable, maintainable systems and shared SDKs or platform components.
• Ability to collaborate across engineering, QA, and operations.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytics, QoE metrics, and instrumentation.
• Exposure to Android, Roku, web platforms, or VAST/VMAP video ad integrations.
