Senior / Expert Java Developer (Banking)

Location: Gdańsk or Warsaw, Poland; hybrid work with 2–3 days per week in the office

Salary: 140–170 PLN per hour on a B2B contract

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Java microservices and integration components.
• Connect internal security systems with banking infrastructure through event-driven architectures.
• Analyze business requirements, document dependencies, and troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Contribute to an expanding agile team and occasionally lead analysis and deployment orchestration.
• Share knowledge, promote development best practices, and mentor junior colleagues.
• Work in a Scrum environment using JIRA, supporting requirements analysis and test case preparation when needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of Java backend development experience for Senior level or 10+ years for Expert level in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Integration.
• Knowledge of REST services, microservices, and integration patterns.
• Experience with event-driven integration platforms, preferably IBM MQ and Kafka.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, preferably Oracle, plus Maven, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing with JUnit and Testcontainers.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in banking, trading, custody, settlement, or another regulated domain.
• Knowledge of cloud-ready application design, containerization, and Kubernetes.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems or building layers around vendor platforms.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and static code analysis.
