Intermediate Accountant (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid work

Annual salary: $68,400–$83,600 CAD; typical starting salary is $76,000 CAD.

What you will do

• Own the full accounts payable cycle and identify opportunities to automate manual work.
• Support month-end close through bank reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Help develop and enforce spend policies and manage the corporate credit card program.
• Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for year-end audit activities.
• Strengthen internal controls, document processes, maintain data integrity under US GAAP, and identify process gaps.
• Partner with stakeholders on vendor ownership, budget concerns, ad hoc analyses, and finance automation projects.

Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of professional accounting experience.
• CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience with accounts payable and month-end accounting workflows.
• Strong cross-functional communication and vendor relationship skills.
• Familiarity with US GAAP; experience with Rillet accounting ERP.
• Curiosity about AI, automation, and technology-enabled process improvement.

Hiring process

• 45-minute Google Meet interview with a member of the hiring team.
• Take-home case study followed by a 60-minute Google Meet interview.
• 30-minute conversation with the CFO, followed by a 45-minute in-person leadership interview.
