Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $79,000–$119,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Develop and operate distributed, scalable, secure full-stack cloud services processing petabytes of data weekly.
• Build accessible user interfaces and extend backend services and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineers and product partners to build AI-powered legal data solutions.
• Participate in design and code reviews and improve software quality through feedback.
• Support service ownership, reliability efforts, on-call rotations, and incident response with team guidance.

Requirements

• Familiarity with software engineering, cloud platforms, containerization, APIs, distributed services, and data stores.
• Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code that meets requirements and team standards.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
• Interest in secure coding, reliability, operational best practices, and collaboration in agile teams.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• At least one year of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Exposure to React or Angular and monitoring or observability tools.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
• Interest in product thinking, continuous learning, and improving developer effectiveness.
