Principal Engineer, Platform Analytics

Principal Engineer, Platform Analytics (Data Warehousing/Analytics): Own the architecture and critical technical decisions for a customer-facing Platform Analytics experience, building and operating pipelines and serving layers with an accent on low-latency, freshness, and metric consistency across UI and API. What you will do

• Own Platform Analytics architecture and key technical decisions while preserving consistency guarantees and meeting latency/freshness targets.
• Design, build, and operate data pipelines and serving layers hands-on: event/entity ingestion into Snowflake, dbt-governed metric definitions, and a high-performance OLAP serving layer behind a single Analytics API.
• Own production performance, reliability, and cost: performance tuning, monitoring/alerting, and resource management for a customer-facing system.
• Curate and model source-system data into trusted, conformed datasets using dimensional modeling and data engineering best practices.
• Build and operate the traditional data-engineering ELT that the product depends on, to the same standard as the platform-analytics path.
• Mentor engineers and set the technical bar for code quality, design standards, and ways of working; partner with Product on sequencing and communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Location: Remote role; applicants within 45 miles of the Westlake/Dallas, TX office should expect to work on-site Tuesday through Thursday.
• 12+ years of related experience (or 8+ years with an advanced degree).
• Deep, hands-on expertise designing and delivering data warehouses and analytical data platforms, including data curation, integration, metadata management, and data-quality processes.
• Expert SQL development and performance tuning on analytical databases (e.g., Snowflake), with judgment for low-latency, high-concurrency query performance at scale.
• Experience with streaming/real-time processing (e.g., Kafka) and change-data-capture (CDC) ingestion for entity/reference data.
• Experience designing and operating a high-performance OLAP serving layer for analytics (e.g., ClickHouse), plus ELT workflows (e.g., dbt, git-based CI/CD) and orchestration (e.g., Apache Airflow).
