Health Claims Handler (Medical Insurance)

Salary: £26,000–£28,500 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Review and process medical claims according to policy terms, ensuring timely and accurate outcomes.
• Communicate with members, healthcare providers, underwriters, and internal teams to resolve queries and provide updates.
• Assess whether treatments meet accepted medical standards and whether costs are reasonable and customary.
• Respond to inbound calls, emails, and digital messages with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation, manage workloads independently and collaboratively, and escalate complex cases, potential fraud, and complaints.
• Contribute to process improvements across claims operations.

Requirements

• High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, and critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a calm, diplomatic, and professional approach under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to manage workloads independently and work effectively within a team.
• Mid-level experience is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare, travel, medical, pet, or personal accident claims.
• Familiarity with private or international medical insurance.
• Experience managing claim reserves and producing claims reports.
• German or Spanish language skills.
