Principal Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Remote in the United States; New York, NY

Salary: $205,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the architecture and most challenging technical work across workflow testing, mutation testing with Stryker, end-to-end testing, QA agents, and the public API.
• Solve cross-cutting technical problems across squads, focusing on correctness, leverage, and durable solutions.
• Set technical direction, make architecture-of-record decisions, and document key trade-offs.
• Improve engineering standards through design reviews, architecture guidance, and mentorship of senior engineers.
• Identify systemic technical risks and drive solutions before they become incidents.
• Partner with the SVP of Engineering on technical strategy and responsible use of AI in development.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building production software, including staff- or principal-level work.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-cutting technical problems and durable solutions.
• Deep expertise in testing strategy, test automation, end-to-end testing, mutation testing, and CI/CD.
• Strong architecture and public API design experience with the ability to defend consequential trade-offs.
• Evidence of improving the effectiveness and technical capabilities of other engineers through influence and mentorship.
• SaaS or platform experience; payments, IoT, or vertical SaaS exposure is advantageous.
