TL;DR

Intake Specialist (Customer Support): Serve as the first non-clinical point of contact for Utilization Management intake via multiple communication channels with an accent on accurate data entry, regulatory compliance, and communication. Focus on managing authorization requests, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in a hybrid work environment.

Location: Hybrid position based in Tempe, Arizona, USA (M-Th in office, F remote)

Salary: $17–$20 per hour

What you will do

  • Receive, document, and route authorization, pre-certification, and notification requests per workflows and regulations.
  • Collect and verify non-clinical information to initiate requests accurately.
  • Review requests for completeness and escalate or route as needed.
  • Maintain audit-ready case records and documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards while ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be based in or near Tempe, Arizona, USA for hybrid work (M-Th onsite, F remote)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 0–1+ years experience in customer service, call center, healthcare operations, or administrative support preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of medical claims and ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain productivity standards.
