Salary: $167,500 - $213,750 USD

What you will do

• Lead architecture and design of software systems spanning IoT device control, cloud services, mobile and web applications, and automation engines.
• Drive evolution of monolithic systems into modular, scalable, and maintainable components.
• Collaborate across product, firmware, platform, operations, and application teams to clarify technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards through design and code reviews.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve product capabilities and engineering outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership and influence architecture decisions across multiple teams.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in or near Tysons, Virginia, United States with onsite presence 4 days per week
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of professional software development experience with strong object-oriented programming skills, especially in C#/.NET.
• Proven experience designing and delivering complex software systems and leading technical direction across teams.
• Strong database design and performance experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-team collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with IoT, smart home, energy management, HVAC, water, automation, or connected-device systems.
• Experience working with physical systems, hardware devices, firmware, or embedded-device integrations.
• Experience with event-driven systems, device telemetry, automation/rules engines, or distributed systems.
• Experience modernizing monolithic systems into modular services.
• Experience designing cloud software interacting with physical devices considering latency, reliability, and operational visibility.
