TL;DR
Asset Management Specialist (Asset Management/MDM): Own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer-deployed hardware assets, including deployment, swaps, RMA, and end-of-life, with an accent on building reliable asset data and operational rigor. Focus on standing up scalable RMA and troubleshooting playbooks, driving root-cause with vendors, and completing the Hexnode to Esper migration while shaping fleet management tooling.
Location: San Francisco (hybrid schedule: 2-3 days in office), with hands-on time at the South SF warehouse and travel to merchant sites as needed
Salary: $85,000 base (plus pre-IPO equity)

What you will do
- Own customer asset lifecycle end-to-end: deployment, swaps/replacements, RMA, and end-of-life; keep asset data accurate as the fleet scales.
- Stand up and run the RMA process for field-defective hardware, including triaging QA failures and driving vendor root-cause conversations.
- Guide purchasing decisions for customer peripherals using field failure data; improve what gets bought and shipped.
- Drive the long tail of the Hexnode to Esper migration to completion, including cleanup of devices stuck in transition states.
- Build troubleshooting playbooks so Tier 2 (and eventually Tier 1) support can resolve hardware issues without escalation.
- Support fleet-wide hardware refresh and configuration rollout/rollback initiatives; contribute to fleet management tooling (per-location device view, CMDB, guided troubleshooting).
Requirements
- 3-4 years of relevant experience across IT asset management, hardware support engineering, MDM administration (Esper/Hexnode/Kandji/Jamf or similar), field operations, or customer-facing IT for a hardware product.
- Hands-on exposure to deployed hardware fleet operations: RMA workflows, vendor RCA, reverse logistics, and asset data hygiene.
- Strong systems thinking to turn tribal-knowledge processes into repeatable, documented, measurable workflows.
- Excellent writing skills for troubleshooting playbooks.
- Comfort working with engineers as peers and partnering with customer-facing teams to improve their workflows.
Nice to have
- Background in POS, retail hardware, or other industries with deployed customer-owned devices.
- Experience with CMDB and/or familiarity with Salesforce as a system of record for hardware assets.
- Comfort writing light scripts or SQL to investigate asset data.
- Experience being the first person in a function and growing into managing the team.
