TL;DR
Senior ETF Engineer, Investment Technology (Python/AWS): Building and supporting data engineering workflows, platform services, APIs, and microservices for ETF portfolio construction, trading, analytics, and operational processes with an accent on Python, AWS, SQL, distributed systems, and AI-assisted engineering. Focus on designing event-driven architectures, optimizing large-scale ETL and data pipelines, and ensuring production reliability, auditability, and observability.

Location: London, United Kingdom; at least four full days each week in the advertised office

What you will do

  • Design, build, and support capabilities for the ETF platform across portfolio construction, trading, analytics, and operational workflows.
  • Develop data engineering workflows and platform services for the Vision platform and model delivery ecosystem.
  • Build Python-based services, APIs, microservices, and data pipelines for portfolio analytics and optimization.
  • Design SQL-based data processing, ETL workflows, and distributed event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka.
  • Develop cloud-native applications on AWS and operate CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, validation, and observability frameworks.
  • Partner with investment teams and provide production support, including participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in software engineering or data engineering.
  • Strong Python and SQL experience, including data processing, APIs, performance tuning, and ETL workflows.
  • Experience with AWS, containerized environments, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
  • Understanding of data modeling, pipelines, validation, lineage, error handling, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
  • Daily use of AI tools for coding, testing, refactoring, documentation, and design exploration, with the ability to evaluate and correct generated code.
  • Ability to work in the London office at least four full days per week.

Nice to have

  • Financial services or asset management experience.
  • Exposure to portfolio analytics, risk models, or investment workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field from a top-tier institution.
  • CFA, CPA, CIPM, CAIA, or FRM certification.
