Senior Mechanical Engineer

What you will do

• Execute waste handling lots with responsibility for cost, quality, and schedule under the Equipment & Packages Engineering Manager.
• Coordinate concept and basic engineering, including internal and external interface management.
• Prepare technical specifications for procurement packages covering waste reception, storage, feeding systems, waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, and related equipment.
• Select suppliers, evaluate offers, place purchase orders, and coordinate suppliers through detailed engineering.
• Manage documentation control, inspections, and factory acceptance tests.
• Collaborate with procurement, arrangement planning, civil, electrical, and process departments; support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from an FH, ETH, or technical university.
• At least 7 years of experience in industrial plant engineering.
• Strong process and product knowledge of waste handling systems.
• Experience with crane systems, including waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, bulk material handling, or grab cranes.
• Experience in supplier management, procurement of complex systems, project execution, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Fluent English required; willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits, FATs, and site support.

Nice to have

• Background in energy-from-waste, power generation, or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of German.
