Senior Control System Engineer (DCS)

Location: Office-based in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Domestic and international project travel is required. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Salary: CAD 120,000–160,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Lead and support control systems projects through feasibility, design, implementation, checkout, and commissioning.
• Design and configure modern control system hardware and software tailored to client requirements.
• Develop process control narratives, control algorithms, and logic for new and existing equipment and processes.
• Test, simulate, troubleshoot, and validate systems for performance, reliability, and compliance.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams on project scope, schedules, budgets, estimates, proposals, and risk mitigation.
• Complete DCS handover activities and train operations and maintenance teams while mentoring junior engineers and technologists.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in engineering, automation, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Registration as an EIT, P.Eng., or AScT in British Columbia.
• 10+ years of industrial experience; pulp and paper or consulting experience is an asset.
• Hands-on experience designing and configuring DCS platforms such as ABB, Emerson, Foxboro, or Honeywell.
• Experience with PLC/HMI systems, control system hardware, software, communications, industrial networking, and cybersecurity practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international project sites.

• Experience with project management.
• Experience in pulp and paper or engineering consulting.
