What you will do

• Collaborate with physicists and engineers to design mechanics for vacuum systems and optical subsystems.
• Create novel mechanical designs and specifications from component to system level.
• Perform stability, thermal, vibration, and tolerance analysis to evaluate design solutions.
• Analyze and recommend solutions for balancing competing engineering requirements.
• Assist in hands-on assembly and precision alignment of finalized designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of optomechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in Solidworks, PDM, or equivalent design software.
• Skilled in FEA, including meshing, modal analysis, and thermal analysis.
• Experience with precision mechanism design, kinematic interfaces, and vacuum chamber design.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with optics and opto-mechanical best practices.
• Experience with PCB packaging, wire harnesses, and electronic thermal control.
