TL;DR

Lead Systems Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes): Providing technical leadership for the operation and maintenance of a large federal enterprise cloud platform with an accent on stability, security, and performance. Salary: $140,000 - $155,000

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor a small engineering team, including task coordination and professional development.
• Set technical directions and standards for systems engineering and O&M practices.
• Oversee patching, upgrades, configuration management, and standardized baseline maintenance.
• Support Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) infrastructure and core platform services.
• Automate infrastructure operations through Terraform and resolve complex networking and performance issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of experience (or equivalent professional experience).
• Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure in a technical lead capacity.
• Experience mentoring engineers and managing people-related responsibilities.
• Expert-level knowledge of Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Deep command of systems administration, networking, and containerization.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust / suitability determination

Nice to have

• Prior experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP and NIST 800-53.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Security+.
