Data Scientist (AI/ML): Designing and deploying machine learning and deep learning solutions for the CLEAR open infrastructure to transform crisis data into actionable intelligence with an accent on early warning systems and humanitarian decision-making. Focus on building computer-vision models for satellite imagery, fine-tuning LLMs for report analysis, and creating multimodal data fusion frameworks to forecast humanitarian needs.

What you will do

• Design and implement CLEAR’s data architecture and MLOps environment, including GPU resources and ingestion pipelines.
• Develop deep learning models integrating earth observation, conflict data, and economic indicators for risk assessment.
• Build computer-vision and remote-sensing models for flood-mapping, displacement-site monitoring, and damage assessment.
• Fine-tune LLMs for document triage, multilingual analysis, and situation summarisation.
• Implement impact-based forecasting systems and decision trees to guide field staff through needs assessments.
• Create automated reporting systems and interactive dashboards for real-time data access.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in applied data science.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and key libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, pandas).
• Strong SQL skills for database management and complex query optimization.
• Experience with geospatial tooling such as Google Earth Engine, rasterio, and geopandas.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Practical experience working in low-data or data-scarce settings.
• Experience using GenAI for automated analysis of large volumes of documents.
• Experience with multimodal data fusion.
