Counsel, Product Legal, Financial Partnerships (Fintech)

Location: Singapore or Malaysia; primary base in Singapore.

What you will do

• Lead complex negotiations with banking partners, payment schemes, and financial institutions.
• Structure and support partnerships for issuing, payments, embedded finance, yield products, new market launches, and customer acquisition.
• Build and improve contracting processes, templates, playbooks, deal trackers, risk registers, and contract repositories.
• Use AI-assisted contract review, legal risk reviews, and PRD analysis to improve legal workflow speed and quality.
• Partner with Product, Financial Partnerships, Regulatory Legal, Risk, and Commercial teams on new products, regions, and complex deal structures.
• Advise executives and deal owners on risk-weighted options, escalations, and trade-offs in strategically significant partnerships.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of post-qualification legal experience, including significant experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house in fintech, payments, banking, or related financial services.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and regulatory-sensitive agreements across multiple regions.
• Experience building and improving legal processes, playbooks, and templates for efficient contracting at scale.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior commercial, product, and risk leaders.
• Qualification to practice law in a common law jurisdiction, such as Singapore, England and Wales, the United States, or Australia, or an equivalent qualification.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with payments, issuing, embedded finance, and cross-border financial-services regulation.
• Legal experience at a high-growth technology company, payments company, or bank.
• Experience with AI-enabled legal tools such as Harvey or Claude.
• Experience supporting stablecoin, digital-asset, card-program, or next-generation financial-infrastructure partnerships.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-moving, AI-native global organization.
