Microbiologist (Medical)

TL;DR

What you will do

• Maintain laboratory operations while strictly adhering to QMS, CLIA, and ISO regulations.
• Perform QA/QC tasks and experiments, including reagent qualification and test system validation.
• Conduct traditional and molecular laboratory testing to support research, surveillance, and outbreak responses.
• Manage equipment maintenance, specimen handling, and reagent inventory.
• Curate databases and prepare datasheets, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and worksheets.
• Assist senior laboratorians and participate in internal and external safety and quality audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a closely related Life Sciences field.
• Practical knowledge of Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) or Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) procedures.
• Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or have valid US employment authorization.
• Ability to rigorously follow highly detailed SOPs and maintain strict safety standards.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of and experience with Legionella culture methods.
• Proficiency with CDC systems including ELIMS and IFMS.
• Experience with real-time PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and complex data interpretation.
