TL;DR

Mid SDET / Tools Engineer (Unreal Engine 5): Building and maintaining engineering tools and pipeline tooling using C++ and Python with an accent on Unreal Engine 5 integration and automation frameworks. Focus on designing UE5 editor and runtime tools, implementing plugins, and developing automated tests to improve pipeline reliability.

Location: Hybrid (Canada)

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain UE5 editor and runtime tools in C++.
  • Build and extend DCC and pipeline tools in Python for Blender, Maya, and Houdini.
  • Implement Unreal Engine plugins, subsystems, and Slate/UMG or Dear ImGui tools.
  • Integrate tooling with Perforce, REST/JSON APIs, and CI/CD systems.
  • Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on technical design and support QA and artist teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software development or technical tools/QA engineering experience with Unreal Engine exposure.
  • Strong modern C++ development skills and hands-on UE5 experience (plugins, reflection system, subsystems).
  • Proficiency in Python, including scripting, pytest, and CLI tools.
  • Experience with Perforce (p4) in production workflows.
  • Understanding of 3D content pipelines (LODs, materials, draw calls, collision).
  • Must be based in Canada

Nice to have

  • Experience with DCC scripting (Blender, Maya, Substance Painter) and Houdini.
  • C# / .NET knowledge for test automation framework contributions.
  • CI/CD experience with GitLab CI or Jenkins.
  • Unreal Engine profiling skills (Unreal Insights, Stat system).
  • Knowledge of Nanite, Lumen, World Partition, ISM, or PCG.
  • Exposure to AI/LLM-assisted tooling or workflows.
