TL;DR

Senior Software Developer (Automotive): Leading the design and development of safety-critical embedded software for next-generation brake-by-wire systems with an accent on architecture definition, system integration, and functional safety. Focus on driving in-house software capabilities for software-defined vehicles (SDV) and ensuring robust performance across complex vehicle motion control architectures.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Markham or Oshawa, Ontario (Hybrid: 3 days/week in Markham).

Salary: $115,000–$164,600

What you will do

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software for brake controls and diagnostics.
  • Define software architecture strategies to ensure scalability and reusability across vehicle platforms.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate developers through code reviews and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software with VMCC architecture and SDV milestones.
  • Drive software integration, validation, and issue resolution to ensure high-quality launches.
  • Champion BDD principles and CI/CD pipelines for safety-critical application deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science required.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in embedded software or controls system development.
  • Strong proficiency in C and/or C++ for production-quality systems.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR, vehicle networks, and serial data communication.
  • Familiarity with model-based development tools like MATLAB/Simulink and Embedded Coder.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety and ASIL standards.
  • Experience with automotive chassis controls or active safety domains.
  • Familiarity with OBD-II diagnostics and DAQ tools like ETAS/INCA.
