Data Centre Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Data Centre Engineer (Infrastructure): Managing the physical build and maintenance of data center environments for capital markets clients with an accent on structured cabling, hardware deployment, and system reliability. Focus on rack and stack operations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and ensuring optimal power utilization across APAC facilities.

Location: Home base is Hong Kong; requires regular travel between data centres in Hong Kong and travel within APAC, EMEA, and AMRS on short notice.

What you will do

• Execute equipment rack and stack, cabling, labeling, and termination of fiber and copper network cabling.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues, including installing or removing blades, cards, memory, and hard drives.
• Perform cabinet/cage audits, inventory verification, and maintain rack elevation documentation.
• Manage cross-connects, shipping and receiving of packages, and coordinate access for internal and external customers.
• Monitor and report on power utilization in co-locations and maintain overall data center cleanliness.
• Provide timely updates via a computer-based ticketing system and support emergency outages.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related fields.
• In-depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standards and DCO standards and operations.
• Experience using industry-standard test equipment and deploying network devices and servers.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM).
• Must be based in Hong Kong and available to work a flexible shift (Tuesday to Saturday, 3pm to 11pm; Saturday 8am to 5pm).
• Willingness to travel within APAC and globally (EMEA, AMRS) on short notice.
