Technical Lead (Workday)

TL;DR

Technical Lead (Workday): Leading the design, development, and deployment of core HR and payroll systems with an accent on Workday ecosystem architecture and integration. Focus on building high-performing engineering teams, ensuring operational excellence through DevOps practices, and delivering scalable SaaS solutions for a complex media enterprise.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to New York City, NY or Englewood Cliffs, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 yearly

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of core HR and payroll initiatives, from technical design to post-go-live support.
• Architect and implement scalable, secure custom and SaaS solutions within the Workday ecosystem.
• Build and manage high-performing teams of internal engineers and external delivery partners.
• Enforce DevOps best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, and rigorous code quality standards.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Payroll, HR, Data, and Enterprise Technology to align solutions with business priorities.
• Monitor platform performance and drive continuous improvement and root-cause resolution.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading medium to large engineering teams.
• 4+ years of in-depth experience as a Workday developer with at least one full implementation cycle.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday APIs.
• Proven experience architecting and deploying solutions using Workday Extend or the Workday Build Ecosystem.
• Experience designing data ingestion pipelines into Workday Prism for advanced analytics.
• Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week in Englewood Cliffs, NJ or New York City, NY.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, entertainment, or consumer-facing digital businesses.
• Familiarity with SAP SuccessFactors and API management solutions like MuleSoft or Apigee.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and custom web development (React/Java).
• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG).
