What you will do

• Build and expose ingestion, transformation, and data-quality capabilities as a service for internal teams.
• Develop connector-based integration capabilities using Kafka and Kafka Connect.
• Orchestrate distributed processing engines like Apache Spark, Flink, or Beam behind clean service APIs.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting to ensure service health and data quality.
• Investigate and resolve production issues to improve system reliability and efficiency.
• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to support development, documentation, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Madrid, Spain.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals with expertise in Java and/or Python.
• Strong experience with high-velocity data ingestion using Kafka and Kafka Connect.
• Hands-on experience with stream or batch processing technologies like Apache Spark, Flink, or Beam.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in relational and NoSQL database tuning.
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Pragmatic approach to building reliable, observable, and maintainable production software.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and ArgoCD.
• Knowledge of Apache Iceberg or Exasol.
• Experience defining data quality standards and KPIs.
• Proficiency in Shell scripting.
