Cost Consultant, Development Advisory (St. John's)

Location: St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Remote role with expected travel to client sites 1–2 days per week across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Salary: $65,000–$90,000 base pay annually, excluding bonuses, equity, benefits, and other incentives.

What you will do

• Deliver estimating and project monitoring services across active construction and development projects.
• Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates, quantity take-offs, drawing reviews, and contract documentation reviews.
• Conduct site visits, review contractor progress claims, assess change orders, and maintain project documentation.
• Support budgeting, cost validation, market research, pricing analysis, reporting, and project oversight.
• Collaborate with senior consultants, contractors, suppliers, lenders, consultants, and clients across Atlantic Canada.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in architectural engineering technology, construction management, quantity surveying, architecture, building science, construction, or a related discipline.
• Experience in estimating, quantity surveying, cost consulting, project monitoring, or construction cost management.
• Understanding of construction principles, drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
• Ability to prepare quantity take-offs, support cost estimates, review change orders, and contribute to project reporting and cost analysis.
• Strong analytical, communication, organization, adaptability, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work remotely while travelling to client sites 1–2 days per week across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Nice to have

• Professional Quantity Surveyor or Construction Estimator Certified designation with CIQS, or active progress toward a designation.
• Experience with CostX, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and related construction or estimating software.
• International quantity surveying experience or equivalent education.
