Data Business Analyst (Retail)

TL;DR

Data Business Analyst (SQL/Retail): Analyzing complex datasets and optimizing SQL queries to drive product insights with an accent on data quality, profiling, and documentation. Focus on bridging the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams to build scalable data models and curated datasets.

Location: Must be based in Poland and ready to work from the client’s office in Krakow (3 days per week). Work permit is required.

What you will do

• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends and actionable insights.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to support data analysis and product needs.
• Perform data profiling, validation, and quality checks on new and existing data sources.
• Document data flows, business logic, and build technical metadata, including glossaries and KPIs.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Product teams on logical and physical data model development.
• Support business teams during UAT and post-production with detailed analysis and queries.

Requirements

• Strong experience working with data-heavy projects, preferably in retail or e-commerce.
• Advanced SQL skills, including optimization of complex queries.
• Proven ability in data discovery, profiling, and source analysis.
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts, semantic layers, and curated datasets.
• English: B2/C1 (Upper Intermediate/Advanced) required.
• Practical experience using AI-powered assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to improve productivity and quality.

Nice to have

• Experience with data catalogues, metadata management, or data governance frameworks.
• Background in large-scale data platforms or retail domain expertise.
• Experience applying GenAI in a structured way within the SDLC (prompt patterns, workflow optimization).
