What you will do

• Own the cloud-side of the IoT Platform, managing the flow of messages between gateways and cloud services.
• Operate and evolve a Kubernetes-based (GKE) infrastructure, focusing on scaling and hardening connectivity services.
• Develop and manage the Eclipse Hono messaging backbone and Mender OTA rollouts.
• Design fleet management features to handle the gateway lifecycle from production to the field.
• Build observability pipelines and BI models to turn raw fleet data into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable a scalable virtual power plant.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience building and operating cloud/distributed backend systems in production.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes (GKE) and cloud-native operations.
• Deep understanding of MQTT and device-to-cloud messaging patterns at scale.
• Experience designing observability pipelines and working with BI tooling (SQL).
• English: Proficiency required; German is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience with Eclipse Hono or similar IoT connectivity platforms.
• Familiarity with Mender or large-scale OTA fleet management systems.
• Experience with SQLMesh and Looker (LookML).
