Engineering Manager (AI Product)

Engineering Manager (AI Product): Lead teams building and expanding Figma’s developer offerings (Dev Mode, MCP, Code Connect) with an accent on AI-powered, user-facing developer experiences and cohesive technical abstractions. Focus on defining strategy and roadmap, providing hands-on technical leadership, and incubating new developer product development.

Location: London, England (full time; can be held from the London hub or remotely in the UK)

What you will do

• Manage and support product engineers building and expanding Figma’s developer offerings, including Dev Mode, MCP, Code Connect, and more
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across product, design, engineering, and other functions to coordinate delivery
• Define strategy and roadmap for the team and execute with autonomy, velocity, and craftsmanship
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to ensure cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions
• Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing engineers; grow senior engineering talent
• Help drive inclusive and diverse team initiatives through hiring, community events, and related programs

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience managing software engineers working on products used by external users
• Proven track record building AI-powered products (as a manager and/or individual contributor) with best-in-class user experience
• Ability to connect product and engineering work to clear business impact
• Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing, highly engaged engineering teams (mentoring and growing senior engineers)
• Strong ability to build and operate fast-moving teams balancing innovation with execution
• Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their application to user-facing products

Nice to have

• Experience building large-scale systems using React, C++, and/or Ruby
• Experience building and maintaining open source software and/or libraries for developers
• Knowledge of generative AI, RAG, fine-tuning, and applying them to creative products
