Salary: $180K – $275K + Equity

What you will do

• Architect and build highly scalable, low-latency systems for real-time in-app communications and storage of billions of clips.
• Design critical APIs and evolve the overall backend infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product, infra, and data teams to implement ML-based feeds and social features.
• Mentor other engineers and drive technical decisions that impact millions of users.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Java and hands-on experience building scalable microservices.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and schema design.
• Proven ability to build systems handling thousands of requests per second.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in New York City.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, or other message brokers and caching systems.
• SRE, DevOps, or DevSecOps experience.
