What you will do
- Routinely perform Level II visual inspection of welds.
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final dimensional inspections; interpret engineering prints (GD&T preferred, training available).
- Oversee and coordinate 3rd-party NDT inspections as needed.
- Interpret weld symbols and requirements, and apply weld codes and industry standards.
- Complete VT reports, maintain inspection equipment/records, and visit local suppliers for VT/dimensional inspections when required.
- Assist in creating and maintaining weld and NDT procedures/programs; support additional technical/clerical duties when bottlenecks arise.
Requirements
- US citizenship required due to access/potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NOFORN); no dual citizenship.
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (AWS).
- NDT VT Level II experience; NAVSEA weld inspector NDT Level II preferred.
- Strong reading comprehension and ability to comprehend blueprints/drawings.
- Good math skills (algebra, trigonometry, physics related to welding) and strong organizational/planning skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds at times; proficiency using Windows-based tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
