Certified Weld Inspector

TL;DR

What you will do

• Routinely perform Level II visual inspection of welds.
• Conduct receiving, in-process, and final dimensional inspections; interpret engineering prints (GD&T preferred, training available).
• Oversee and coordinate 3rd-party NDT inspections as needed.
• Interpret weld symbols and requirements, and apply weld codes and industry standards.
• Complete VT reports, maintain inspection equipment/records, and visit local suppliers for VT/dimensional inspections when required.
• Assist in creating and maintaining weld and NDT procedures/programs; support additional technical/clerical duties when bottlenecks arise.

Requirements

• US citizenship required due to access/potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NOFORN); no dual citizenship.
• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification (AWS).
• NDT VT Level II experience; NAVSEA weld inspector NDT Level II preferred.
• Strong reading comprehension and ability to comprehend blueprints/drawings.
• Good math skills (algebra, trigonometry, physics related to welding) and strong organizational/planning skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds at times; proficiency using Windows-based tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
