Subcontracts Manager (Defense)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role requires a current U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year in base compensation, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage the full subcontract lifecycle, including requirements definition, SOW development, RFPs, proposal evaluation, source selection, negotiation, award, administration, and closeout.
• Draft and negotiate subcontract terms, pricing, deliverables, schedules, and required FAR/DFARS documentation.
• Perform and document cost and price analysis, source-selection rationale, and consent-to-subcontract or advance-notification packages.
• Maintain a CPSR-compliant purchasing system and complete, audit-ready subcontract files under FAR Part 44.
• Lead supplier onboarding, qualification, risk assessment, scorecards, audits, corrective actions, and remediation.
• Coordinate supplier cybersecurity, quality, export-control, insurance, regulatory, and contractual reviews with Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Quality, and Program Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of subcontract administration or management experience in a federal contracting environment; alternatively, a master’s degree and 6+ years or 12+ years of directly related experience without a degree.
• Hands-on experience across the full subcontract lifecycle, including FAR/DFARS flowdowns and cost or price analysis.
• Familiarity with FAR Part 44, Contractor Purchasing System Reviews, consent-to-subcontract requirements, and supplier compliance.
• Strong supplier risk management, governance, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A current U.S. DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or national-security environments.
• Experience with FFP, T&M, and cost-reimbursement contracts.
• Familiarity with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, EAR, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and AS9100 or other regulated quality systems.
• NCMA, CPSM, CPSR, or purchasing-system certification or experience.
• Active U.S. DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
