Manufacturing Engineer (Furniture Manufacturing)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite manufacturing environment

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes addressing capacity, quality, safety, ergonomic, and environmental requirements.
• Develop and update production routings, labour standards, capacity models, process descriptions, and work instructions.
• Support or lead new product introductions, materials testing and planning, technical reporting, and production projects.
• Contribute to plant-wide cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform quality inspections, communicate production and safety issues, and maintain shop-floor controls and ISO procedures.
• Support safe, clean production areas following 5S principles, disposal procedures, and hirify.global safety protocols.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer designation is desirable.
• 2–4 years of progressive Mechanical Engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with continuous improvement tools including kaizen, mistake-proofing, standard work, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, and TPM.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations, environmental compliance, industrial hazards, OSHA regulations, and ISO 14001/9001 requirements.
• Proficient written and verbal English is required.
• Ability to work onsite in a multi-shift production environment, including flexible hours, weekends, and overtime; physical work includes standing, lifting up to 50 lb, and exposure to manufacturing noise, dust, and heat.

Nice to have

• Black Belt or Lean Belt certification.
• Experience or knowledge of furniture, woodworking, or finishing.
• Professional Engineer designation.
