Underwriter, Surety

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; hybrid work. US work authorization required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $74,320–$102,190 per year, with 20% bonus potential.

What you will do

• Underwrite contract bonds in line with hirify.global Surety’s underwriting philosophy.
• Assess and manage risks associated with construction activities, required ratios, industry norms, and competitive underwriting practices.
• Market surety products and build a profitable book of business in an assigned territory.
• Produce and underwrite business from assigned agents and brokers.
• Develop and manage agency relationships, including agency visits.
• Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and account management records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3–4 years of experience in contract surety underwriting.
• Experience managing the quality of a book of business and executing underwriting strategies.
• Knowledge of contract review, including bond forms, riders, and indemnity agreements.
• Ability to maintain documentation standards and accurate account information.
• Willingness to travel 20% and authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
