What you will do

• Track upstream Linux Kernel developments and identify features relevant to EOS and internal needs.
• Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests using C, C++, and Python; build automated test and test infrastructure.
• Contribute kernel features back to the mainline Linux kernel codebase and integrate new kernel versions into EOS.
• Evaluate and qualify kernel-dependent hardware components (CPUs and NICs) with hardware engineers and vendors.
• Analyze and fix issues in customer networks with Customer Support Engineers and customers; address problems found in system tests.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor new and junior engineers.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 3 years experience, or MS + 2 years, or PhD + 1 year, or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level, extensive hands-on programming in C; C++ and Python knowledge is desirable.
• Significant experience troubleshooting Linux kernel issues, fixing bugs, and developing kernel features.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation.
• Familiarity with the upstream Linux community patching process and procedures.
• Understanding of IP networking architecture and familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
