TL;DR
Principal Engineer - Digital IC Design (Semiconductor): Designing and developing high-speed PAM/Coherent DSPs and PHY architectures for data center and AI infrastructure with an accent on RTL development, synthesis, and timing closure. Focus on driving complex SoC micro-architecture, integrating vendor IPs, and ensuring high-quality hardware delivery through cross-functional collaboration.
Location: Must be based in Pavia, Italy (Onsite, 5 days per week)
Salary: €64,500–€86,000 per annum

What you will do
- Define sub-system architecture, micro-architecture, and register specifications for complex SoCs.
- Develop efficient RTL using SystemVerilog and manage synthesis and backend resources.
- Design, debug, and support ICs, IPs, and block-level DFT structures.
- Collaborate with architecture, floorplanning, verification, and STA teams to ensure quality criteria.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Assist in design automation and CAD EDA flow improvements.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to work onsite in Pavia, Italy, 5 days per week.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with 10+ years of professional experience.
- Fluent in RTL coding design techniques, including DFT, resets, and linting.
- Strong experience in synthesis, static-timing closure, formal verification, and gate-level simulations.
- Proficiency in multi-clock design and ASIC design flow stages.
- Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology and software.
Nice to have
- Design experience in high-speed (>1 GHz) and high-performance DSP products.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Tcl, and UNIX shell.
