TL;DR

Distributed Systems Engineer (Backend): Building scalable data processing infrastructure for high-performance circuit simulation with an accent on data pipelines, job orchestration, and multi-TB dataset management. Focus on bridging Python and C++ components to ensure system reliability and performance across distributed compute clusters.

Location: Must be based in Port Moody (Greater Vancouver Area), Canada. This is an on-site position.

Salary: 89,600 CAD – 166,400 CAD

What you will do

  • Build ingestion pipelines for large-scale netlists and simulation data.
  • Implement high-performance I/O for multi-TB circuit databases.
  • Develop task distribution and fault-tolerant scheduling for long-running simulations.
  • Create resource management and load balancing solutions for compute clusters.
  • Develop scalable visualization tools for multi-dimensional simulation results.
  • Bridge Python and C++ components using serialization and interop layers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building distributed systems with Python.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks like Dask, Spark, Ray, or Celery.
  • Familiarity with high-performance data formats such as HDF5, Parquet, or Arrow.
  • Understanding of distributed computing patterns, data locality, and fault tolerance.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Port Moody, Canada.

Nice to have

  • Background in EDA, VLSI, or semiconductor design.
  • HPC experience with job schedulers like Slurm, PBS, or LSF.
  • Knowledge of GPU acceleration.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with Go or scientific visualization tools.
