Platform Engineer (Gamedev)

What you will do

• Own and evolve platform systems in proprietary engines across PC and consoles.
• Implement and optimize memory systems, including allocators, pools, and fragmentation mitigation.
• Build and tune I/O and streaming foundations, including async file I/O and decompression pipelines.
• Improve CPU performance, scalability, and frame-time stability through job systems and thread scheduling.
• Integrate and maintain platform SDK-facing code and abstraction layers.
• Profile and optimize code using internal and platform-specific tooling to identify bottlenecks.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and systems-level debugging (multithreading, profiling).
• Deep understanding of console constraints, CPU architecture, and memory hierarchy.
• Ability to take ownership and deliver maintainable low-level solutions.
• Must be based in Canada.
• Pacific-time overlap required.

Nice to have

• Experience shipping titles on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo hardware.
• Familiarity with platform profiling workflows such as PIX.
• Experience with Unreal Engine.
• Background in creating performance regression detection and automated dashboards.
