What you will do

• Lead, build, and scale a high-performing backend engineering pod as a player-coach.
• Balance people leadership with hands-on technical guidance (approximately 50/50 split).
• Coordinate projects, set priorities, and motivate engineers to maintain and create platform features.
• Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders to prioritize and achieve strategic plans.
• Champion the integration of AI to drive feature innovation and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of engineering management experience in the industry.
• Strong technical leadership experience with Go, Microservices, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Deep knowledge of Event-Driven Architecture and core web technologies (distributed systems, data stores).
• Proven track record of building and growing engineering teams.
• Must be based in New York City for a hybrid work arrangement.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch.
• Proficiency with Terraform, Docker, and CircleCI.
• Familiarity with DataDog for system monitoring.
