VP of Credit Risk (Fintech): Leading the credit strategy and P&L for lending decisions at Scratch Pay with an accent on scoring models, policy optimization, and portfolio performance. Focus on expanding the approvable population via alternative data and implementing AI-powered efficiency tools.
Location: Remote (US and Canada). Hybrid option available at the office in Pasadena, CA.
Salary: $250,000 - $275,000 base

What you will do
- Serve as the GM for lending profitability, owning credit loss rates, approval rates, and unit economics.
- Design and optimize underwriting criteria, including knockout rules and approval thresholds using champion/challenger analysis.
- Lead collections strategy, including segmentation, treatment paths, and recovery optimization.
- Expand credit access to near-prime and subprime segments by integrating alternative data sources.
- Partner with the SVP of Product to refine the borrower experience on iOS and Android apps.
- Lead and scale a high-performing credit risk and analytics team.
Requirements
- Must be based in the US or Canada.
- Direct experience as a P&L owner at a consumer lending company managing credit loss and yield.
- Proven track record of building unsecured personal loan credit models end-to-end.
- Deep fluency in credit risk concepts: underwriting policy, scoring models, vintage analysis, and loss forecasting.
- Knowledge of consumer lending regulations including TILA, FCRA, ECOA, and UDAAP.
- Expertise with major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) and alternative data sources.
Nice to have
- Experience at a fintech or marketplace lender (BNPL or installment lending).
- Demonstrated success using alternative underwriting to extend credit to subprime applicants.
- Hands-on experience with ML-based scorecards or logistic regression.
- Experience scaling analytics teams from small to multi-functional.
