What you will do
- Lead the design and qualification of lithium-ion battery systems for compact, high-performance wearables.
- Drive innovation in cell design and integration to maximize energy density and reliability.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers to optimize the battery management system (BMS) and fuel gauge.
- Execute complex test plans using Design of Experiments (DOE) and perform root cause failure analysis.
- Evaluate and qualify battery suppliers while ensuring compliance with international standards (UL, CE, IEC).
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical roadmap for future battery innovations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- Must be based in Boston, MA for on-site work.
- 5+ years of experience with battery system design (Bachelor's) or 2+ years (Master's).
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Lithium-Ion cell design, battery chemistry, and predictive modeling using machine learning.
- Proficiency in Python or similar scripting tools for test data analysis and visualization.
- Hands-on experience with battery test equipment such as Arbin or Maccor.
