What you will do
- Maintain and update legal compliance registers and track emerging regulatory changes.
- Manage environmental permits and monitor compliance with emissions limits and reporting obligations.
- Act as the Local Chemical Compliance Officer, ensuring adherence to REACH, CLP, COSHH, COMAH, and GHS requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and carry out compliance assessments to close identified gaps.
- Investigate environmental incidents and ensure corrective actions are verified and implemented.
- Collaborate with external bodies, including the HSE and local authorities.
Requirements
- Recognized EHS qualification such as Tech IOSH, NVQ, or the NEBOSH General Certificate in Environmental Management or Occupational Health & Safety.
- Proven experience in a similar EHS role within manufacturing, production, logistics, or maintenance environments.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and environmental permits.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Must be based in or be able to work onsite in Manchester, UK.
Nice to have
- Higher-level qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or AIEMA.
- Degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science.
- Experience working with chemicals in an industrial environment.
- Knowledge of packaging waste tax.
