Software Engineer – Mission Control Software (Python/Ruby)

Location: Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance is available, including visa sponsorship where applicable.

What you will do

• Develop robust, mission-critical software for integrated testing and mission operations.
• Build supporting tools for flight controllers and engineering teams.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment.
• Build scalable systems for expanding mission activities and ensure reliability through automated testing and operational validation.
• Collaborate with testing, engineering, and operations teams to understand operational needs.
• Support users, improve development workflows and tooling, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Backend development experience with Python and/or Ruby on Rails, plus frontend experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with message brokers or event-streaming systems such as Redis Streams or Kafka.
• Experience building systems for real-time data processing and ingestion.
• Familiarity with object storage solutions such as MinIO or AWS S3 for handling large datasets.
• Experience with Git, automated testing frameworks, relational or time-series databases, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable distributed systems.
• Experience working in agile software development environments, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD pipelines, and experience in the space industry or other safety-critical domains.
