Child Care Licensing & Provider Growth Specialist (North Carolina)

Location: Remote in North Carolina, USA, with frequent statewide travel

What you will do

• Recruit prospective child care providers, including center operators and family child care home owners.
• Coach providers through the full licensing journey, from the initial idea to opening their programs.
• Teach enrollment, operations, compliance, and financial fundamentals for running a sustainable child care business.
• Translate North Carolina DCDEE licensing rules into clear, actionable steps and support ongoing compliance.
• Build playbooks, training programs, and materials to scale provider support.
• Partner with state agencies and community organizations to expand child care availability where it is most needed.

Requirements

• Experience understanding how businesses operate, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to recruit, motivate, coach, and teach small-business owners or child care providers.
• Willingness to travel frequently across North Carolina and work in the field.
• Knowledge of North Carolina child care licensing, ideally through experience with or alongside DCDEE, is advantageous.
• Ability to build trust quickly and work independently.

Nice to have

• MBA or undergraduate business degree.
• Experience using AI tools and independently figuring out solutions.
• Experience recruiting, coaching, or consulting with small-business owners or child care providers.
• Familiarity with North Carolina quality rating and improvement initiatives.
