TL;DR

Cloud/Platform Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes): Building and operating secure, scalable platform services in AWS GovCloud for the VA Benefits Integration Platform with an accent on cloud-native application delivery and secure infrastructure automation. Focus on designing Kubernetes-based platform services, implementing GitOps workflows, and ensuring high availability and compliance in federal environments.

Location: Primarily remote, but must be based in the US and able to come on-site in Washington, DC as required.

What you will do

• Design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures in AWS GovCloud and hybrid environments.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes-based platform services (EKS/OpenShift) to support multi-team workloads.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and integrate workflows with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Implement enterprise observability solutions using Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, and CloudWatch.
• Ensure platform alignment with VA security policies, Zero Trust principles, and ATO requirements.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in cloud and platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS/OpenShift) and Terraform.
• Proficiency in GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).

Nice to have

• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, or CKA.
• Experience supporting VA Platform One / BIP or similar federal DevSecOps platforms.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and service mesh (Istio, Linkerd).
• Familiarity with container hardening standards (DoD STIGs, CIS benchmarks).
