What you will do

• Define and own the architecture of Java/Spring Boot microservices and distributed systems.
• Lead the design of event-driven solutions using messaging and streaming patterns.
• Establish API standards, governance, and integration best practices.
• Guide engineering teams through technical decisions, code reviews, and delivery execution.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Drive observability, security, and AWS cost optimization initiatives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including 4+ years in a leadership role.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Strong experience with AWS services (Kinesis, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Hands-on experience with distributed transactions and orchestration strategies.
• Must currently reside in the Miami area for this on-site role.
• Proven ability to lead engineers and establish development standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
• Knowledge of orchestration platforms like Temporal or AWS Step Functions.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK) and CI/CD expertise.
• Background in financial services or payments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and LLM-based solutions.
