What you will do

• Deploy and harden UDS Data Capability using Iceberg, Rook/Ceph, and Postgres in mission-critical environments.
• Integrate modern data platforms with legacy systems including Oracle, SQL Server, and SOAP/REST endpoints.
• Build secure pipelines for data movement across classification boundaries via Zarf.
• Manage day-2 operations including capacity planning, performance tuning, and observability with Vector and Loki.
• Produce accreditation artifacts such as STIG evidence and cATO documentation for IL4/IL5 environments.
• Mentor junior FDEs and translate field experience into product and engineering improvements.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and active DoD security clearance (Secret minimum; TS/SCI preferred).
• Production experience with Lakehouse storage (Apache Iceberg) and OLAP engines (Trino, ClickHouse, Spark SQL).
• Proficiency with Kafka (Strimzi), stream processing (Flink), and CDC patterns (Debezium).
• Strong Kubernetes expertise (operators, CRDs) and Linux fundamentals.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and GitOps (Flux, ArgoCD).
• Ability to travel 10-25% to restricted on-site locations (SCIFs).

Nice to have

• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Argo Workflows.
• Familiarity with the CNCF ecosystem and open-source foundation projects.
