What you will do

• Architect core data systems and pipelines ensuring reliability and quality from raw data to production.
• Solve ambiguous, high-leverage data problems end-to-end without detailed specifications.
• Define architecture, patterns, and abstractions to accelerate customer integrations and product dataflows.
• Implement data quality improvements, including better alerting and self-healing patterns for messy real-world data.
• Evaluate and adopt AI tools and agentic workflows to push data engineering to the bleeding edge.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and influence technical direction across the organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building data engineering systems at a staff or principal level.
• Deep expertise in Python, PySpark, SQL, dbt, and Airflow.
• Experience with modern data platforms like Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) or Snowflake.
• Proven track record of shipping scalable, high-quality ETL systems.
• Must be based in one of the specified US states.
• Must have valid US work authorization (no sponsorship available).

Nice to have

• Experience in grocery, retail, or supply chain data domains.
• Prior experience at a high-growth startup during rapid expansion.
• History of technical leadership across multiple teams or projects.
