What you will do

• Operate managed cloud databases including AWS RDS/Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL), Google Cloud SQL, DynamoDB, and MongoDB.
• Administer self-managed enterprise RDBMS (Oracle 19c, IBM DB2 LUW) on Linux, Unix, and Windows environments.
• Implement high availability and DR strategies using Multi-AZ, Aurora Global Database, Data Guard, and HADR.
• Automate infrastructure and schema changes using Terraform, Ansible, Flyway, and Liquibase within GitOps workflows.
• Monitor performance and capacity using CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and Oracle AWR/ASH.
• Ensure security and compliance with PCI-DSS and GDPR standards, managing IAM least privilege and secrets.

Requirements

• Hands-on production experience with managed relational databases in AWS or GCP (RDS/Aurora or Cloud SQL) using MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience administering at least one self-managed enterprise RDBMS (Oracle or IBM DB2 LUW) in Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong performance tuning skills, including execution plans, indexing strategies, and slow query analysis.
• HA/DR expertise covering replication, failover runbooks, backups, and point-in-time recovery (RTO/RPO).
• Automation mindset with proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, Git, and scripting in Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of security/compliance fundamentals, specifically IAM, encryption, PCI-DSS, and GDPR.

Nice to have

• Deep internals knowledge of Oracle (RAC, Data Guard), DB2 HADR, or advanced PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Experience with MongoDB Atlas and on-prem MongoDB sharding.
• Familiarity with Redis, Memcached, Kafka, Kinesis, or Kubernetes-based stacks.
• Exposure to analytics platforms such as BigQuery or Snowflake for operational reporting.
• Experience migrating legacy estates to managed services with minimal downtime.
